WHAT IS IGCSE?

Affiliated to the Cambridge IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) offered by the University of Cambridge International Examination(CIE) of the UK, which is the world's most popular International curriculum for 14 - 16 year olds.

Introduction of the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum in classes IX and X will allow the IGCSE enrolled students to appear for Cambridge 'O' level ICE examination at the end of class X.

WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE FOR A STUDENT TO COME FROM ANOTHER CURRICULUM TO THE IGCSE CURRICULUM? WOULD THERE BE ANY ISSUE OF ADJUSTMENT?

YES. The programme is definitely challenging, but allows students to have better understanding in the beginning through bridging programme

There is no issue of adjustment as the teaching methodology adapted allows enough flexibility to the students to understand the curriculum

WHAT ARE THE SUBJECTS IN THE IGCSE CURRICULUM ?

There are five Subject Groups in IGCSE with several subjects to choose from each group. Group 1 : Languages (First Language, Second Language, Foreign Language, etc)

Group 2 : Humanities and Social Sciences (Geography, English Literature, History, etc.)

Group 3 : Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, etc)

Group 4 : Mathematics (Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, etc)

Group 5 : Creative, Technical & Vocational (Accounting, Business Studies, Computer Studies, Music etc.) For each subject, the certificate merely indicates the grades scored, and not pass or fail. Five scores of *C’ or Higher indicates a student’s readiness to pursue +2 level qualification, like the class 12 CBSE, IB Diploma, Advanced Placement Diploma (US), etc.

WHAT IS THE INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION (ICE) THAT IS AWARDED TO SOME IGCSE STUDENTS?

The ICE is more prestigious than the standared IGCSE. Instead of the five papers needed to obtain IGCSE, if a student attempts and passes seven or more papers, she/he is Awarded with the ICE (International Certificate of Education).

The seven subjects must be as follows: Two subjects from the language groups.

One from each of the other four groups.

One more from any of the five groups.

DO INDIAN UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES RECOGNIZE THE IGCSE PROGRAMME?

Yes, the IGCSE Programmes are recognized by all Indian colleges and universities.

DO STUDENTS GET ADMISION FOR CLASS 11-12 OR FURTHER EDUCATION IN ANY OTHER BOARD ONCE PASSESD CLASS X THROUGH INTERNATIONAL UNVERSITY?

Yes , all the Indian and international universities do recognize IGCSE certified students and gets easily admitted in any curriculum or universities.

DOES THE SCHOOL HAVE A GOOD PLAYGROUND?

The school has a cricket ground and state of the art facilities for a number of sports such as basketball, badminton, skating etc.

WHAT IS THE CURRICULUM OFFERED IN OCIS?

Integrated curriculum from Nursery till Grade V. The curriculum comprises of Cambridge International Primary Programme (CIPP), national curriculum (ICSE) and IBO’s primary year programme. Grade VI to VIII Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme / Cambridge Secondary 1. Grade VIII - checkpoint exam from Cambridge for English, Maths and Science. Grade IX and X IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education). Grade XI and XII A & AS LEVEL FROM UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE.

WHAT ARE THE CO-CURRICULAR AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES OFFERED?

WHAT ARE THE ADMISSION CRITERIA?

Admissions are given on the basis of the student’s past academic records and their performance at the interaction Programme and from age 5 a small writen test will be conducted for assessing their literacy and numeric skills.

HOW ARE THE STUDENTS ASSESSED?

Assessment varies from grade to grade. It is a combination of internal and external assessments at the school level. Students of primary and secondary are assessed on their day to day work in class in the form of summative assessment (class work, behavior, submission of home work and projects) and in the form of assessment (End of every term),Graded System is followed for all the classes..

WHAT IS THE ENTRY AGE FOR ADMISSION IN NURSERY?

Two years six months completed on 1st June of that academic year.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE IGCSE PROGRAMME AND THE INDIAN NATIONAL CURRICULUM LIKE ICSE AND CBSE?

The curriculum is different. IGCSE is an International curriculum offers International certificates. IGCSE programmes is a very holistic and enquiry based. The IGCSE certificate is welcome by universities all around the world.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN IGCSE AND IB?

Both are International curriculum offering international certificates. But IB +12 qualification is more popular in India.
